Swimming Pools

Public Schools that have swimming pools that are must meet certain requirements to operate their pool.  The New York State Department of Health requires that schools have a Certified Pool Operator and a Pool Safety Plan.

The Pool Safety Plan includes information on Pool Management, Rules, Lifeguard Duties, Safety Equipment, and Emergency Procedures.

The Certified Pool Operator is the person responsible for ensuring the Maintenance and Disinfection of the pool .  The Certified Pool Operator must have training at least every five years and pass a certification test.
